Location Mörel is a hamlet of 524 inhabitants in the Swiss municipality of Mörel-Filet, Canton Valais (Eastern Raron district). A long gondola with an intermediate stop and a cable car ascend from 759 m in Morel to 1925 m in Riederalp, the quietest of the three alpine villages in the Aletsch Skiarena area.
It is possible to ski to Riederalp thanks to the two chairlifts to a gondola, as well as a few ski lifts, or to move on skis to Bettmeralp and from there to Fiescheralp. Throughout the Aletsch Arena ski area, skiers can choose from 104 km of alpine ski slopes, 22 km of cross-country trails, and 75.5 km of winter hiking trails. 35 modern lifts ascend the slopes while 1 snow park and 5 parks entertain children. At Riederalp for night skiing: every Tuesday there is skiing until 9 p.m. at the Alpenrose area and Alpenrose school ski lift.
On the car-free Aletsch Arena plateau, skiing is available on 2 other areas in the area: Bettmeralp ski lift Blausee to the middle station. In Fieschertal with the Blätz ski lift there is skiing only in February.
From Mount Moosfluh there is an enviable view of the Aletsh Glacier, perhaps the best in the area, from where you can see the longest Alpine glacier, so unique that it is protected by UNESCO. This giant measures 23 km and stretches from the Jungfrau region (4,000 m) to the 2,500-meter altitude of the Massa Gorge. It covers an area of 86 square kilometers; at Konkordiaplatz, the area where the Aletschfirn, Jungfraufirn, Ewigschneefeldfirn and Grüneggfirnl glaciers come together, the snow and ice is more than 900 meters thick.
Mörel has a railway station connected to the international railway network via Brig. From Mörel, 2 mountain railways go to the Aletsch Arena 1905m - 2927m. A unique
